Third Innovation Award for SmartLife Care: Flex Emergency Call Device Impresses the Jury

SmartLife Care was presented with the German Innovation Award 2025 in Berlin on 13 May 2025. The award recognises the new Flex emergency call device – a modular solution designed to provide greater safety, comfort and independence in later life. This is already the third award of its kind for the Swiss company, following previous successes with Allegra (2019) and the Serena and Vito emergency call watches (2020).

“The Flex emergency call device is another milestone in our product development. We combine technological intelligence with social responsibility, enabling people who need support to live safely and independently at home for longer,” says Rolf Bona, CEO of SmartLife Care. “Receiving the German Innovation Award for the third time confirms that we are on the right track: innovation should serve people – not the other way around.”

The award was presented in the main category #W1 Excellence in Business to Consumer, with the entry submitted in the Smart Living category.

Flex – Modern Safety Without Stigma

With the award-winning Flex emergency call device, SmartLife Care is setting a new standard for safety in later life. The solution combines modern emergency call technology with intuitive operation and a homely Swiss design that blends discreetly into everyday life. Stigmatising device designs are now a thing of the past.

Flex provides comprehensive protection both at home and on the go – for people who want to remain independent for as long as possible. The jury was particularly impressed by the combination of functionality, practicality for everyday use and social value.

Since its market launch in November 2024, Flex has seen strong demand. The first production batch was almost sold out within a day – particularly among Spitex organisations, care institutions and family members who value practicality and quality.

The German Innovation Award is presented by the German Design Council, an independent institution dedicated to promoting design and innovation expertise. The award recognises products and services across industries that demonstrate a high degree of innovation, user focus and social relevance. The jury consists of experts from business, academia and public institutions.
